Staff from Wansford and Kings Cliffe Practice thank the community for its support during the coronavirus lockdown
Staff at a village surgery have been overwhelmed by the level of support from the community during the coronavirus pandemic.
Wansford and Kings Cliffe Practice has been given home-made scrubs and visors to help keep them safe as they continue to treat patients.
Bikers from the Peterborough and Cambridgeshire Advanced Motorcyclists have also been helping out by delivering prescriptions to patients who are self-isolating at home.
Dr Rhiannon Nally said: "A really lovely unintended consequence of this period has been to watch how communities have come together .
"We have received offers of help from throughout the community."
Among the volunteers are Christine Tyler, who has made scrubs for the staff, and James Anderson who set up an online fundraising page so he could buy 3D printers to make visors at his home in Oundle.
The Peterborough bikers are out most days delivering medicationvulnerableable people.
Coordinator Tim Helstrip said: "They are just glad to be out on their bikes
Dr Nally added: "We are also glad they are out on their bikes and are indeed extremely grateful to them.
"We are truly blown away by these many acts of kindness and offer our heartfelt thanks to all those who have supported us through what has been a very challenging period for primary care and for communities as a whole."
Surgery staff are keeping patients up to date with information on the Facebook page.
As far as possible appointments are being conducted by telephone but face-to-face appointments will be arranged when there is a clinical need.
Patients are urged to get in touch if they need medical advice and not to be put off because of fears about Covid-19.
The pharmacy currently closes between midday and 2pm Monday to Friday for staff to catch up during a busy time.
