Friday, December 23

Oakham Art Group Winter Exhibition - Rutland County Museum in Catmose Street. Runs to January 9.

Christmas at Belton House - 4.30pm with last entry at 8pm. Closes 10pm. Festive trail with light installations. Street vendors selling food and drinks, as well as chance to toast marshmallows. Chase the Goose’ family trail - £2. Lyveden New Bield. Runs until February 6.

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve Carol Service - 5pm, Holy Cross Church, Burley. A candlelit service of traditional carols and readings followed by mulled wine and mince pies. In aid of The Churches Conservation Trust.

Christmas Day

Carols and readings - Ryhall Methodist Church, 10.30am. All ages welcome.

Boxing Day

Rutland Morris - 11am Horse and Jockey in Manton; midday, Market Place in Uppingham and 1pm, The Crown in Uppingham. A performance of their usual winter border dances and their renowned mummers play.

Tuesday, December 27

Thursday, December 29

Funhouse Comedy Club - 8pm, Grainstore Brewery, Station Approach, Oakham. Featuring Alfie Moore, Hal Cruttenden, Simon Bligh and compered by Cerys Nelmes. Tickets £12 in advance from www.funhousecomedy.co.uk. Doors open 6.15pm, last orders for food 7.15pm.

Ramblers Walk - An easy 8 mile walk starting at 10am, taking in the pretty Denton Reservoir. Through the village of Denton, pick up a disused railway track, then walk a small section of the Viking Way, return along the Grantham Canal, down the Drift and into the typical Lincolnshire village of Harlaxton.
