Drivers in Lincolnshire receive the most speeding fines from police after being caught by cameras and guns





Police in Lincolnshire have handed out more speeding tickets than anywhere else in the country.

More than 11.5 per cent of residents in the county have been caught speeding, according to research by Moneybarn car finance.

Lincolnshire Police dished out 88,641 notices in the 2021 to 2022 financial year, which is the most recent set of data released by the Home Office.

Nottinghamshire, which had 25,433 offences recorded, was the county with one of the lowest number of tickets issued.

Leicestershire had the fourth most speed awareness course searches with 4,860 people looking to sign up.

While Cambridgeshire and Nottinghamshire had the smallest number hoping to sign up for the educational scheme with 2,410 and 3,340, which equates to fewer than 290 searches per 100,000 people.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents states that inappropriate speed is a factor in 11 per cent of injuries, 15 per cent of serious injuries and 24 per cent of the deaths which happen on our roads. While more than 300 people will be killed – and more than 2,500 seriously injured – every year in the UK because of vehicles travelling too fast.

The penalty for speeding offences can also be quite costly and affect insurance.
