Wildlife photographer Tom Robinson is short-listed in the British Photography Awards 2021 in the birdlife category

A wildlife photographer has been short-listed for a national award after capturing a stunning image of a kestrel.

Tom Robinson, who runs Wildlife Photography Hides, entered the British Photography Awards in the birdlife category.

His image, titled Any Last Words, captured a juvenile kestrel on the lookout for food. It was taken on the outskirts of Bourne during the summer.

Members of the public can vote for one photograph per category to help select the overall winner.

Tom turned his passion into a job and now runs various photography hides which can be hired out by other avid wildlife photographers.

His hides offer the chance to capture images of some of the UK’s most iconic species such as kingfishers, barn owls and kestrels.

His approach is to first create the habitat which is perfect for the species he intends to photograph and then wait patiently for the birds to move in.

This approach is beneficial to the wildlife as it creates a perfect habitat, but also allows photographers to take images in a natural environment.
