Bourne extend winning run
It may be a new year but it was the same result for Bourne Town last night (Tuesday), who extended their recent unbeaten run to give games with an impressive 5-2 victory over UCL Division One strugglers St Neots Town Youth & Saints at the Abbey Lawn.
Bourne boss Raffa Mazzarella’s latest signing, former Langtoft Vikings aces Josh Hales made an instant impact on his debut, notching a hat-trick for his new club.
But it was Bourne’s Aris Placis who did the initial damage, striking early after just five minutes and then netting again 11 minutes later.
But Ebey Marango quickly replied for the Saints, halving the deficit only a minute after Bourne has scored their second of the night.
But it was only to be a blip on a good night for the Wakes.
Hales scored twice before the break to give his side a winning position.
The teenager had scored six goals in four appearances for The Vikings after breaking into their side in the PDFL Premier and seemed to find the step-up to UCL football an easy one, albeit against one of the weakest teams in the league.
Bourne did not have it all their own way in the second half and Luis Viera scored from the penalty spot in 67th minute spot kick.
But Hales completed his hat-trick in the 78th minute to secure all three points.
The Wakes are 14th in the UCL Division One after their latest victory.
