BREAKING: Rayment blasts critics as Tulips sign striker Josh Moreman
Spalding United manager Pat Rayment has signed Josh Moreman (24) from Step 3 club Stamford AFC and then taken a big swipe at his critics.
A fired up Rayment told me this evening that the capture of the former Deeping and Corby front man will help his team’s promotion bid: “This is a major coup for us and our promotion hopes. He will be very important for us because we were not good enough up top last year.
Yes, there are idiots out there saying we pay loads, calling me Fat Payment, I know that
“We offered him what we think he is worth and Stamford offered him what they think he is worth. We obviously value him more than they do.”
The Spalding supremo then added: “Contrary to what people are saying, we do not have a massive budget. This is my fourth season as manager and we are now spending less than we were in my first year. And we couldn’t win the UCL with those players.
“And that’s because this club is not a joke any more. We don’t have to put ten players on contract and pay over the odds to get them here. No-one wanted to come to this club but players come to us now because they want to be involved with such an ambitious club. That’s the progress we have made... players do not dictate to us anymore.
“Yes, there are idiots out there saying we pay loads, calling me Fat Payment, I know that. They need to wake up. I am coming out fighting and I am not going to stand there and let these idiots take cheap shots at my club any more.”
