Blackstones are through to the United Counties League Division One play-off final
Blackstones produced a brilliant performance to book their place in the United Counties League Division One play-off final.
The Stamford side ran out 3-0 away winners in their semi-final showdown at Retford United on Saturday.
They had been beaten twice by the Badgers during the regular league campaign but produced the goods when it mattered to secure their place in the final.
Stones took a 16th minute lead with an acrobatic finish from Kieran Duffy-Weekes after a superb surge down the wing by Will Bestwick.
They came close to adding a second when Bestwick and Josh Barrett linked well to release Johan Coughlan who was denied by a fine save from the home goalkeeper.
However, it didn't take Stones much longer to double their advantage in the 34th minute penalty when they were awarded a penalty which Bestwick converted.
Cameron Harris then produced a crucial goalline clearance on the stroke of half-time to preserve Stones' two-goal lead going into the break.
A third goal four minutes into the second period then cemented Stones' grip on the contest as Eddie Thorpe scored from a free-kick.
The hosts continued to pile on the pressure as they searched for a way back into the contest and Mark West rattled the underside of the crossbar with a header.
However, that was as close as they came to cutting the deficit as Stones saw out the game for a memorable victory.
They will now travel to Retford FC on Saturday for the final after they beat Clipstone 4-0 in the other last four tie.
