Uffington Cricket Club bowler Joe Charlton takes six wickets in three overs without conceding any runs




Joe Charlton produced a remarkable spell of bowling to help Uffington 2nds to victory in the Rutland League on Sunday.

Charlton claimed six wickets without conceding any runs in his 3.1 over spell as the villagers won by eight wickets against Kettering in Division Four East.

Two of his victims were clean bowled while catches from Matt Bailey, James Saralis, Jonny Roberts and Dean Cornish helped his incredible haul.

It ensured Kettering were bowled out for 59 with Cornish then hitting an unbeaten 33 to lead Uffington home inside 10 overs.

A super century from Keyan Gace helped guide Burghley Park to victory over Uppingham Town in their Division One match.

The South African struck 20 fours and two sixes in his 111 as Burghley beat their Rutland visitors by 58 runs.

Ryan Sheehan had taken 4-39 while Toby Rees returned 3-37 as Burghley slumped to 56-8 until Gace led the revival.

He put on 137 runs for the ninth wicket with David Popple who remained 28 not out as Burghley closed on 193.

Hugo Bell then took 4-36 while Mo Azhar claimed 3-16 as Uppingham were bowled out for 135 in reply despite an unbeaten 57 from James Cross.

The defeat dropped Uppingham into the bottom two as Barnack moved out of the danger zone by beating Peterborough Town by six wickets.

Nick Gerber produced a five-star performance to help Oakham defeat Wisbech Town by 144 runs in Division Two.

Gerber took 5-23 from his nine over spell which featured three maidens as Wisbech were bowled out for 100.

Oakham had earlier made 244 with Rajiv Sen scoring 48, Devarsh Shah adding 44 and Otto Jozsa chipping in with 42.

An unbeaten half-century from Farhan Adil helped Ufford Park to a six-wicket home win over Stamford Town.

The visitors had been bowled out for 189 with Tim Juggins top-scoring with 78 and Steve Holland hitting 40.

Mo Shabir claimed four wickets for Ufford who passed their target thanks to an unbroken stand between Adil and Sufyan Mazhar who scored 51 and 32 respectively.

A 139-run stand between Yuvi Ranaut and Will Gardner helped steer Bourne to victory over Adidda in Division Three.

Their Alconbury hosts had made 197 after batting first with Harry Tickler and Arun Saini taking two wickets apiece for Bourne.

Ranaut and Gardner came together with Bourne on 48-2 in their reply before taking them to the brink of victory with their match-winning stand.

Gardner scored 63 while Ranaut was unbeaten on 69 at the close as Bourne secured the win with plenty of overs to spare.

Ketton Sports were bowled out for 98 as they lost by 79 runs against Wellingborough Indians.

Matt Warren had taken 3-29 while Ted Parkinson picked up 2-19 and Noah Durose 2-20 as Wellingborough were dismissed for 177.

Warren top-scored with 30 not out in the Sports reply but they were unable to halt the league leaders' title charge.

Four wickets hauls from George Watt and Ryan Sharp helped Market Overton to a 94-run win over United Sports in Division Four East.

Marko had made 192 after batting first with Mark Hudsoon hitting 55 and Craig Harrison making 48.

Watt then took 4-29 and Sharp secured 4-23 from their eight over spells as United Sports were dismissed for 98.
