Hosts beaten in final after knocking out reigning champions
Market Deeping stormed to success at the finals night of the Stamford Over 40s Super Sevens event on Friday evening.
An accomplished all-round display from the Outgang Road side saw them beat hosts Stamford Town in the final after an earlier semi-final success over the Grainstore.
Stamford had secured their place in the final after beating holders Barnack by 43 runs with Chris Bore in beligerant form after blasting 56 of their final total of 114-3.
Deeping had made 92-1 in their semi-final victory against the Grainstore with Ross Harris hitting 40 and player of the tournament Lee Peacock unbeaten on 31 at the close.
Peacock then made 33 not out with Harris unbeaten on 37 as Deeping set Stamford a target of 80 runs to win in the final.
However, the early dismissal of Bore by Andy Dair blunted Stamford's hopes and they were always behind the run-rate and eventually finished 22 runs short of Deeping's total.
