Keyan Gace scores a double century for Burghley Park in their Rutland League defeat to Newborough




Burghley Park batsman Keyan Gace still ended up on the losing side despite an incredible innings in their high-scoring Rutland League clash on Sunday.

Gace smashed 11 fours and 17 sixes in his 214 not out as he carried his bat throughout the 45 overs of their Division One match at Newborough.

Ben Silver also struck 61 as Burghley posted an imposing 328-2 from their 45 overs in their search for a third successive league win.

However, that daunting target was passed by Newborough with 10 balls to spare as the Burghley bowlers were put to the sword.

Burghley's defeat saw Oakham take pole position in the early standings after a 19-run home win over City.

Steve Flowers hit 131 as Oakham made 251-9 from their 45 overs before restricting their Peterborough visitors to 232-9 in reply.

Irfan Amin bowled an extremely economical 3-9 from nine overs while Magnus Robertson and Thomas Parry both picked up two wickets each.

Ufford Park lost by 42 runs in their top flight clash at Werrington after being bowled out for 157 in pursuit of their hosts 199.

Uppingham remain top of the Division Two standings despite a seven-wicket defeat to Werrington 2nds.

Hayden Brough blasted 13 fours and three sixes in his 108 as Uppingham were bowled out for 167 - a target which Werrington passed inside 29 overs.

Uffington were four-wicket away winners at Wellingborough Indians after dismissing their hosts for 126.

Brendon Boats bagged 3-17 from seven overs while Joe Charlton and Theo Saralis both struck twice.

An unbeaten half-century from James Saralis steered Uffington to victory with Harry Bentley also undefeated on 28 at the close.

Stamford were 84-run winners at Bourne in Division Three after ousting their hosts for 130 having made 214-9 from their 45 overs.

Aidan Staunton top-scored for Stamford with 48 while opener Neil Cornish and Joe Morley hit 31 and 32 respectively.

Ned Gervis grabbed three wickets for Bourne whose leading run-makers in their reply were Arun Saini (35), Ben Woodward (27) and Sahil Rupani (25).

Jacob Hewitt and Harrison Field led the Stamford attack with 4-33 and 3-43 respectively.

Ketton Sports lost by seven wickets at United Sports after being bowled out for 82.

Brett Whaley was their top scorer with 23 while Freddie Renton returned three wickets from his six-over spell for the Rutland side.

Uffington 2nds went down by 93 runs in their Division Four West match at Benefield.

Sam Scott and Dean Cornish had both claimed four wickets each as Benefield were bowled out for 181.

However, Uffington could only muster 88 in reply with Damien Herrick hitting 22 for the villagers.
