Stamford Town Cricket Club are staging their Super Sevens event
Stamford Town's Super Sevens event has produced a series of dramatic finishes.
The annual veterans competition is being staged at their Uffington Road ground with players over 40 years of age representing their respective clubs.
Ketton Sports made a strong start to proceedings on Monday evening as they progressed to the finals night with two victories.
However, they were taken to the wire by Uffington B in the final game of the night with Sports' Adam Renton hitting Damien Herrick for six on the last ball of the match to win the game and proceed to finals night.
Reigning champions Barnack produced a dominant display on Tuesday night in defence of their title.
They recorded wins over Ufford Park and the Grainstore, although the Rutlanders pushed Barnack in the last game but fell just short.
Uffington A, Hoyles' Hitters and Stamford fought out a close contest on Wednesday night where potentially all three teams had a chance of progressing as the evening went on.
Hoyles' Hitters went into the last game needing to beat Stamford to ensure each side had won one game on the night.
This would have led to the team with the best net run rate proceeding to finals night and it was again decided on the final over.
Stamford needed 14 runs off the last over to complete a victory double and they managed it with two balls to spare.
Oakham, Rammy's Raiders and Burghley Park are in action tonight (Thursday) with the winners completing the quartet for the finals evening tomorrow night (Friday). The club are running a small beer festival alongside the event with a barbecue.
