Stamford AFC have retained the services of Harry Vince, George Hobbins, Junior Varela, Kai Tonge and Ben Isaacson

Five players have confirmed their commitment to Stamford AFC who have lost the services of attacker Tendai Chitiza.

Kai Tonge, Harry Vince, George Hobbins, Ben Isaacson and Junior Varela have all agreed to return for the coming campaign with the Southern League Premier Division Central club.

They follow in the footsteps of striker Jack Duffy, defender Jordon Cooke and goalkeeper Tom Jackson who will all be re-signing for the Daniels.

Midfielder Vince missed a large chunk of last season due to injury but has been an integral part of the Stamford squad which firstly gained promotion to step three of the non-league pyramid and then established themselves at the higher level.

He said: "I'm buzzing to be signing on for my sixth season with the Daniels.

"It's been tough being out since October with a knee injury but I've worked hard and I'm chomping at the bit to be back with the lads.

"Staying at Stamford was an easy decision - this club feels like home and I believe in what we're building.

"I'm ready to fight for promotion. The fans deserve our best and we'll give everything to make it happen."

Tonge, Isaacson, Varela and Hobbins all made a strong impression after joining the Daniels during last season.

Attacker Tonge made the switch from league rivals Harborough Town and has got the taste for life at the Zeeco Stadium.

He said: "My decision to stay at Stamford was only right after a good finish to the end of last season.

"I got to enjoy my football again and the gaffer gave me the opportunity to express myself."

Hobbins was a big hit with a series of action-packed performances in midfield after stepping up from Skegness Town in the United Counties League.

He commented: "I'm delighted to re-sign for the upcoming year.

"The gaffer gave me the opportunity to step up a level so, when the chance came to re-sign, it was a no brainer.

"The club has made me and my family feel welcome from the get-go and the fans have been brilliant."

Attacking livewire Varela also moved up the ranks after joining from Thurlow Nunn League side Soham Town Rangers.

He said: "I'm extremely proud to announce that I will be staying at Stamford for the upcoming year.

"After an exciting season full of new challenges and adapting to a new level, it was a no-brainer for me to stay and hopefully we can have an even more successful season."

Defender Isaacson made the switch to Stamford from league rivals AFC Sudbury, having previously played for King's Lynn.

He said: "I'm really happy to be at the club again for another year.

"The fans have been unbelievable and I'm hoping for more of the same next year. I'm looking forward to getting back on the pitch for another solid year."

Chitiza's departure ends his second spell with the club having previously returned following a spell with Coalville.

An attractive offer closer to his home from Northern Premier League side Anstey Nomads has tempted the attacker to leave the club with the best wishes of boss Graham Drury.

He said: "Tendai is a special person who I have so much respect for.

"When we spoke, we both agreed that an offer closer to home and financially to support his family was the best move for him.

"Tendai has been amazing for me and the club and he leaves with our blessing."

Chitiza is one of four players to have departed the club.

Defender James Blunden has joined Cleethorpes Town with Luke Redfern moving to Anstey Nomads while Ashton Offler is looking for a club closer to his home.
