Floodlight problems postpones Deeping’s date with Diamonds
Deeping Rangers’ trip to league leaders AFC Rushden & Diamonds on Saturday was called off because of Floodlight problems at the Dog & Duck - the ground which Diamonds share with landlords Wellingborough Town.
Following problems with the flights on Boxing Day and on New Year’s Day the weekend match was initially brought forward to a 2pm kick-off but later on Thursday night it was postponed.
A statement on Diamonds’ website said: “Following the power cut to the floodlights on Boxing Day and today’s floodlight overloading, the league have advised that all matches at the Dog & Duck have to kick off at 2pm until further notice.
“We have been subsequently informed by Deeping Rangers that they are unable to fulfil the fixture at 2pm on Saturday and therefore the league has postponed the fixture due to the short notice of the kick-off change.”
Deeping are due back in action at home to Harrowby United (tomorrow) Tuesday.
