Maiden win for new management team
Joint Ketton boss Ian Abbott believes his side's first win of the season has given everyone at the Pit Lane club a massive lift.
After drawing two and losing three of their opening games, Ketton registered their maiden victory with a 3-2 away success at Peterborough ICA on Tuesday night.
It was also the first win of Abbott and co-boss Chris Lyon's reign as they fended off a late ICA fightback to secure the crucial Peterborough League Premier Division win.
Abbott said: "It was a nice feeling to wake up the next morning knowing you've got the three points.
"It's given everyone a massive lift and we're all looking forward to the next game on Saturday.
"Neither us or ICA has had the best of starts, but there are no easy games in this league. It was a hard-fought win and massively important for us.
"August has been really tough for every team with so many games and players away. It has hit us hard.
"We decided to change the formation on Tuesday night and played three at the back. We wanted to give it a go and it paid off.
"We played some good football at times and then defended well in the last 10 minutes when they really bombarded us."
Ketton had taken the lead midway through the first half when wing-back Connor Breakell crossed from the right for Greg Rawlinson to convert.
Joe Hussey then turned home a Dom Jones cross at the back post to extend Ketton's lead seven minutes later before ICA reduced the deficit ahead of half-time.
Ketton had the chance to restore their two-goal advantage early in the second half when they were awarded a penalty but Mackenzie Byrne failed to convert.
With the hosts reduced to nine men for a short period with two players sin-binned, Ketton were then awarded a second penalty which this time Matt Woodman netted.
ICA, now back to full-strength, responded quickly to make it 3-2 before staging a late onslaught on the Ketton goal but the visitors held out for their first points of the season.
Abbott continued: "We have been in every game so far this season at half-time, but the second half performances have cost us.
"We made sure that didn't happen again on Tuesday night and it was a big relief to get that first win and hopefully we can carry that into Saturday."
Ketton host Long Sutton - who also got their first win of the season on Tuesday night - on Saturday.
