Stamford stormed to the top of the Evo-Stik League Division One East table after maintaining their winning start to the league season with a 2-1 comeback victory at Pontefract Collieries on Monday afternoon.

The Daniels had found themselves trailing at half-time of the contest after Mikey Dunn had given the hosts the lead.

However, Stamford hit back to equalise after 53 minutes when Rob Morgan tapped home the rebound after Eliot Putman's shot been first blocked and Bradley Fortnam-Tomlinson's follow up had hit the post.

Stamford then snatched the victory against their previously unbeaten hosts when Fortnam-Tomlinson scored with 10 minutes remaining.

The victory means Stamford have won all three of their league games ahead of Saturday's home clash with Cleethorpes at the Zeeco Stadium.

They are one of only two sides in the division - Frickley Athletic are the others - to still hold a 100 per cent record

Stamford: Haystead, Hare, Egginton (Challinor), Burgess (Morris), Cooke, Salt, Morgan, Duffy, Fortnam-Tomlinson, Grouse (Smith), Putman. Not used: Brown-Hill, Peasgood.
