Former Stamford School pupil Josh Hull has been named in the England side for the third Test against Sri Lanka at The Oval

A former Stamford School pupil is set to make his Test debut for England this week.

Josh Hull has been named in the side for the third Test against Sri Lanka which begins at The Oval on Friday.

Hull replaces Matthew Potts in England's only change from the team which won the second Test at Lord's to seal a series victory.

The 20-year-old had been called up for the second Test, in place of the injured Mark Wood, but did not feature in the England side.

Hull, who stands at 6ft 7in, has been a pivotal figure in Leicestershire's bowling attack since his debut in 2023, taking 52 wickets across formats.

He also starred on his England Lions debut last month, taking five for 74 in the seven-wicket victory over Sri Lanka.

Hull is seen by England as somebody who can bring variety to their bowling attack and has been also included in the white-ball squad to face Australia later this month.
