Ex Stamford duo Steve Collins and Micky Gynn - both former Posh players - have been heavily involved in organising the event along with Stuart George to celebrate the life of Robson was passed away in 2020.

Steve explained: "I'm delighted to be sharing a special event with my home-town football club.

"It's a big event and we've had overwhelming support from former team-mates.

"I'm organising the event from the bottom of my heart as I or players couldn't attend Tommy's funeral through Covid to say goodbye."

More than 150 players have pledged to attend the event which is also raising funds for Dementia UK and Motor Neurone Disease.

Dave Gregory, Tony Alcock, Keith Waugh, Dave Riley, Mick Gooding, Alan Paris, Marcus Ebdon, Ian Benjamin, Trevor Quow, Dave McVay, Rick Heppolette, Jackie Gallagher, Noel Luke, Jim Barron, Ian Phillips, Gary Sargent, Ivor Linton, Lil Fucillo, Jon Winters, Tony Cliss, Ken Charlery, Steve Welsh, Bryn Gunn, Gerry McElhinney, Wakely Gage, Peter Morris, Garry Worrall, Phil Chard and Billy Rodaway are among those attending.

Steve added: "We have some great friends and players joining us so it will be memorable and a one off day to remember.

"We have players coming from all over the country and Europe. It's been a mammoth task putting this together but it will be a day to remember.

"Some of us are getting older so it will be great for all of us to catch up with colleagues we haven't seen for many years."

Ticket sales have been booming for the event which also features an auction, raffle and entertainment in the evening.

Steve commented: "We've been astonished with the response but, as you can imagine, there is a lot of work going on in the background and I would like to say big thank you to Stamford AFC for staging the event.

"Initially it was going to be a get-together with a few former team-mates but it has escalated into a big event. It is a definite must for all football fans to be present."

Tickets, costing £20 for evening function which starts at 7pm, are still available despite the rapid sales and are available by contacting either Steve 01780 721031 or 07539 266360 or Stuart George on 07799 581768.
