Blackstones draw with Clifton All Whites in the United Counties League after Nathan Rudman scores a late equaliser from the penalty spot

A late equaliser from the penalty spot earned Blackstones a share of the spoils in their midweek match with Clifton All Whites on Wednesday night.

Nathan Rudman converted the 89th minute spot kick to secure a 1-1 draw in the United Counties League Division One clash.

Stones had created the better chances in the first half of the match at the Seven Bespoke Joinery Stadium and saw one effort ruled out for offside.

It then needed a superb save from goalkeeper Max Peverell to prevent their Nottingham visitors from taking the lead before the break.

Harry Peasgood went close with a header which was tipped to safety in the second half before Mosab Gadour grabbed the goal that put Clifton ahead with a close range finish after Stones had failed to clear their lines.

It looked like sending Stones to defeat until Rudman kept his cool in the final minute of normal time to level the contest from the penalty spot.

The point keeps Stones in fourth spot and on track to finish in the play-offs ahead of Saturday's tough trip to second-placed Retford.

They had gone into the midweek match after a 2-0 away success at Sandiacre Town on Saturday thanks to goals from Will Bestwick and Josh Barrett.

The visitors had arguably had the better chances in a goalless first half which saw Peasgood flash a shot narrowly wide of the Sandiacre goal.

It then took until the 76th minute for Stones to break the deadlock as Barrett did well to keep possession before laying the ball across the penalty area for Bestwick to curl home the opening goal.

Stones then sealed the win in injury-time as Matty Walker made a brilliant burst down the right before finding Barrett to slot home the match-clinching goal.
