Bourne Town and Blackstones are celebrating promotion wins in the play-offs

Bourne Town and Blackstones are both celebrating memorable promotions.

The Wakes won promotion for the second season in succession to secure a place at step four of the non-league pyramid for the first time in their history.

They won 8-7 on penalties after their play-off final with Boston Town had finished all square at 1-1.

Brad Marshall cancelled out Jordan Nuttell's first half opener for the Poachers before Bourne goalkeeper Dan Swan saved Pierce Hudson's spot kick.

Blackstones were 3-2 away winners at Retford FC to seal a return to the United Counties League Premier Division for the first time in more than a decade.

They fell behind early on before equalising from the penalty spot as Will Bestwick picked himself up after being fouled to score.

An own goal following a Johan Coughlan gave Stones the lead after the break which was doubled when a Bestwick effort was turned home by a Retford player.

Although the hosts cut the deficit, it was too little too late to deny Stones a superb away success against a Retford side who finished the season in second spot.
