Rutland League cricket round-up





James Laud scored a century against his Saturday club-mates as Burghley Park defeated Long Sutton by three wickets on Sunday.

Laud is lining up this season for Sutton in their Lincolnshire Premier League campaign and showed the club his potential by scoring 108 against them in the Rutland League Division One match.

Sutton had batted first and a solid showing saw them accumulate 282-3 from their 45 overs with Davico Kruger scoring an unbeaten 91.

Dan Oldfield and Jack Baker both scored half-centuries while Paul Edgeller was unbeaten on 46 at the close.

Laud and Chris Logan led the Burghley reply with a 138-run stand for the opening wicket until Jacob Gray bowled the latter for 90.

Jake Burton and Edgeller both took a couple of wickets each but Laud's 108 and Josh Gallimore's 28 helped ensure victory for Burghley with two overs to spare.

Oakham were eight-wicket winners in their Division Two derby with Stamford at the Lime Kilns.

Will Begy had bagged 3-31 while Thomas Stuart-Jones, Rajiv Sen and Irfan Amin all struck twice as Stamford were bowled out for 156. Tim Juggins was unbeaten on 38 at the close.

Olly Billington then blasted 13 fours and a six in his 80 not out as Oakham secured the win inside 22 overs. Ben Southern also struck 30 for the victorious hosts.

Ufford Park were four-wicket winners over Werrington a low-scoring clash.

Sufyan Mazhar took 3-9 and Mo Shabir claimed 3-12 as Werrington were bowled out for 77 - a total that Ufford passed inside 16 overs with Matt Smith scoring 34.

Uffington went down by 112 runs against East Carlton after being bowled out for 154 in pursuit of their hosts' 266-7.

Ketton Sports surged to success in Division Three after a 71-run win against City 2nds.

The Rutland side had made 210-6 after batting first and then bowled out their Peterborough visitors for 139.

Jacob Miller made 92 for Sports while Freddie Renton, Brett Whaley, Sam Halsall and Adam Renton all took two wickets in the City reply.

Market Overton suffered their first defeat in Division Four East after a five-wicket home loss against Royal Strikers.

They had been bowled out for 106 with Strikers securing the win despite Charlie Milner collecting a couple of wickets for Marko.

Dan Peeroo and Alex Willatt both picked up three wickets each for Ufford Park 2nds in their defeat against Pak Azad.

The Peterborough side had made 289-9 after batting first and then dismissed Ufford for 90 with Jack Parker top-scoring with 29.

Luca Harrison, Theo Saralis and Matt Bailey also bagged three wickets apiece for Uffington 2nds in their 78-run loss at Benefield.

The hosts had been dismissed for 195 but Uffington were bowled out for 117 in reply despite an unbeaten 37 from Damien Herrick.

Nassington lost by four wickets against Northampton Saints after being bowled out for 170.

Faraan Chaudhry top-scored with 60 while Will Kinnear made 34 before Saints secured the win in the 40th over.
