Stamford AFC beat Bromsgrove Sporting in the Southern League Premier Division Central
Stamford secured back-to-back one-goal wins in the Southern League Premier Division Central with a solid success at Bromsgrove Sporting on Saturday.
Lee Shaw's fourth minute goal proved decisive as the Daniels followed up last week's home win over AFC Sudbury with another crucial victory.
It moved Graham Drury's side up into sixth spot in the table after victory over an in-form Bromsgrove side who had lost just one of their previous nine league games.
The Daniels boss brought defender James Blunden back into the starting line-up in one of three changes following the previous week's win.
Jack Duffy - who had scored the winning goal against Sudbury - led the attack alongside Shaw with Richard Gregory and Cosmos Matwasa moving to the substitutes' bench.
The move paid dividends as Duffy and Shaw combined early on to give Stamford a lead they never relinquished.
Duffy made a strong run down the left and his cross found Shaw to score from close range.
It maintained Shaw's scoring streak against Bromsgrove as his only other league goal this season came in the reverse fixture in October.
Bromsgrove then had a chance to equalise when Finley Holmes cut in from the left and he unleashed a shot which flew high and wide of Tom Jackson's goal.
A shot from the edge of the area by Jamie Soule then clipped the far post with Jackson stranded.
Stamford replied and Joe Burgess had a shot from the edge of the area but his effort lacked power and Charles Price in the home goal was able to save easily.
As the game approached half-time, Duffy had a shot which was cleared off the line by Carter Lycett.
Bromsgrove looked to create chances after the break to get themselves back into the game but the Daniels' back line worked hard to keep them out.
In the opening minutes, Soule went down in the box but the referee waved play on much to the frustration of the home crowd.
The hosts forced a series of corners but the set pieces were too close to Jackson and he easily claimed the ball.
Stamford continued to look to increase their lead and Tendai Chitiza swung in a good cross which was cleared by the Bromsgrove defence.
Chitiza then crossed again but Tobias Liversidge put his effort over the bar after being challenged.
The home side appealed for another penalty when James Meddows went down in the box but again the referee played on.
Substitute Charlie Marzano had a shot which was deflected wide for Stamford and then Lycett had a shot which Jackson was able to save.
As the game was reaching 90 minutes, Duffy raced clear of the Bromsgrove defence and attempted to chip Price in the home goal but the keeper was able to claim.
Bromsgrove laid siege to the Daniels goal in injury-time and they forced a series of set pieces but they could not breach the Stamford defence as the visitors saw out eight minutes of stoppage time for a fine victory.
