Blackstones Football Club host Gedling Miners Welfare in the United Counties League
Joint Blackstones boss Jon Harrison is urging his side to build on their most pleasing performance of the season in the second match of a big week for the club.
Stones host Gedling Miners Welfare tonight (Wednesday) at Lincoln Road in Division One of the United Counties League.
They go into the match having moved into the play-off places following a 2-1 home win over a much-fancied Retford side on Saturday.
Harrison said: "We've got to do our job on Wednesday night first and it will be very disappointing if we don't.
"The result on Saturday will mean nothing if we don't back it up on Wednesday.
"We'll be a third of the way through the season after the game and we'll be sitting in the play-off places which is where we want to be and not teetering around sixth or seventh thinking how are we going to get in there.
"We want to be in the play-offs this year."
Stones got off to a perfect start on Saturday when Josh Barrett gave them a 10th minute lead against their promotion-chasing visitors.
Man of the match Will Bestwick then doubled Stones' lead with nine minutes remaining before Retford pulled a goal back in injury-time through Ainsley Finney.
Harrison added: "It was a good result and it was probably our most pleasing performance of the season.
"Retford are a really physical side and they are one of those teams who you know would be comfortable in the league above.
"Questions were asked of the lads but they came through it and it will do wonders for their confidence. They now know that they can beat the big sides in this division."
Stones are then in FA Vase action on Saturday when they welcome neighbours Bourne Town to Lincoln Road for a second qualifying round clash.
The club's Under 18s are also in action on Friday night in the FA Youth Cup when they travel to face Matlock Town in a first qualifying round tie.
