Rutland Running and Triathlon Club round-up

There were some extremely creditable performances in the Rutland Water night 10k event from members of Rutland Running and Triathlon Club.

The Friday night saw all four participants take first place in their age groups which was an incredible statistic for the club.

Mark Edmondson-Jones was first club member home in 38:53 (eighth overall), Dave Summers was next in 46:57 and followed by Carolyn Sayers 51:11 and Rob Wright 53:11.

Helen Duncan, Saya Harvey, Helen Pape and Emma Brown of Rutland Running and Triathlon Club.

There were also some strong performances from club members on the Saturday night.

Claire Viney's 54:03 (second in age group) was impressive in its own right, even more so when taken into account she had run a 16-mile race earlier on in the day.

Eve Tarleton wasn't far behind in 54:20, Murray Walne finished in 55:09 (another age group winner) then Ella Wakely in 55:44 and the final leader of her age group was Julia Mannering in 59:30.

This must surely represent the strongest ever club performance at an event.

A different style of event saw four club members competing in the BMAF open road relays at Mallory Park.

A relay event consisting of teams of four completing a three mile lap, club members Helen Duncan, Saya Harvey, Helen Pape and Emma Brown put in a stunning performance to come third.

This was no mean feat in an event attracting elite standard athletes from all over the country.
