THURLBY 10K ROAD RACE AND 3K FUN RUN: Bourne Town Harriers take team honours

More than 200 runners made up the largest entry in 20 years for Sunday’s Thurlby 10k road race.

They were led home by Jonathan Palmer of Bourne Town Harriers in a time of 35:10.

Third-placed Cameron Everist (38:19) and Steven Sheppard (38:33) in fourth secured the team prize for Harriers.

Runner-up was Jeff Lucas of Werrington Joggers in 37:29.

First lady was Ann Wood of Werrington Joggers (44:52) ahead of Bourne’s Gemma Hempstead-Alcoran (46:07) and Janine Barrowcliffe (47:24).

First male veteran was Scott Lloyd of Werrington in 38:35.

First lady veteran was Jo Patrick (Sleaford Striders) in 49:57.

The 10k course records remain with Steven Body (32:44) in 2009 and Claire Steels who set a new best of 38:25 last year.

The 3k fun run was won by Alex Devine (9:40) ahead of Max James (9:40) and Mollie Peel (9:50).

Prizes for the first Thurlby School pupils went to Mitchell Cooper (10:49) and Sophia Bull (12:09).
