Stamford AFC Ladies are crowned East Midlands Regional League Division One South winners
Stamford AFC Ladies are celebrating a memorable promotion double in only their second season in existence.
The Daniels marked their maiden campaign last year by winning the Lincolnshire League title which earned them promotion.
They joined Division One South of the East Midlands Regional League this season and clinched the title on Sunday with a 2-0 away win at Nuneaton Borough.
The title triumph caps off a stunning two seasons where the ladies have only lost one league game and manager Robin Chaudhuri was full of praise for his team.
He said: "The girls have worked hard at training and, despite the squad suffering a number of injuries, they have worked together as a squad and have been the most consistent team in the league."
Needing to win or draw their game against Nuneaton on Sunday, the ladies went into half-time with a 1-0 lead thanks to a close range header from Milly Ramm.
They dominated possession in the second half and were finally rewarded for their patience when Andreia Oliveira turned quickly and fired a shot which the Nuneaton goalkeeper couldn't stop to make it 2-0 and seal the championship and promotion to the Premier Division.
The Daniels are looking for players to bolster the squad for next season.
