Stamford Rugby Club take on Sutton Coldfield in the quarter-final of the Papa John’s Community Cup
Stamford Rugby Club will be hoping to move closer to landing a memorable cup final place at Twickenham this weekend.
The purple, black and whites entertain Sutton Coldfield on Saturday (3pm) in the quarter-final of the Papa John's Community Cup.
A home tie in the semi-final awaits the winners who will have the opportunity to book a place in the final at Twickenham on Saturday, May 17.
Stamford have already enjoyed a double-winning campaign after securing the Counties 1 Midlands East (South) title and lifting the Notts, Lincs and Derby Cup.
A cup final place at the home of English rugby would cap a superb season for the Hambleton Road club who have finished the season strongly.
Past president and former club chairman Neil Jolly said: "Hopefully we can carry forward the momentum of the last few weeks into Saturday.
"Having the final at Twickenham is a huge incentive to keep driving everyone forward but we won't be taking anything for granted because Sutton Coldfield are a good side.
"The coaches have got a full-strength squad available which means the competition for places is ferocious but the boys are all in it together.
"It's been a fantastic season and getting to the last eight of a national competition is another big achievement for the club but we now want to finish the job."
Stamford produced a commanding performance on Saturday to continue their run in the Papa John's competition by scoring six tries in their 38-5 win at Finchley.
However, they will face a tough test this weekend as Sutton Coldfield romped to the Counties 1 Midlands West (North) crown this season.
They won all 22 of their league games to finish 19 points clear at the top with a 100 percent record in what is a parallel level to where Stamford play.
The West Midlands side were 54-14 winners in their cup clash last weekend against West Park (St Helens).
Stamford Women will then take centre stage on Sunday as they look to complete the second leg of a cup double.
The purple, black and whites travel to Sleaford to take on Boston Ladies in the final of the Lincolnshire Cup (4pm) in the hope of landing a second successive trophy.
They retained the Notts, Lincs and Derbys Women's Cup on Sunday after victory over Long Eaton in the final.
