England trials for trio who play their domestic league games at Stamford Indoor Bowls Club
Three bowlers who play their domestic league games at Stamford IBC have been selected for trials with England.
Stephen Harris has been named again in the Senior trial while Spalding club-mate Ollie Jeapes is named in the England Under 18 and Under 25 trial.
Stamford Welland Academy pupil Owen Aspinall has also been nominated for the Under 18 trial due to held at Northampton IBC on Sunday.
Aspinall beat Jeapes 7-5, 9-5 in the EIBA Under 25 singles at Spalding.
Among the Stamford IBC bowlers who have qualified for the knock-out stages of the Lincs IBA individual competitions are Neil Wright and Graham Patrickson in the open sets singles and Chris Ballard in the men’s singles.
Elizabeth Wallace gave Jeff Pitt a close match in the open senior singles qualifier and there were also wins for John Holroyd (over Roger Clarke), Ron Blake (Shirley Suffling) and Kevin Vinter (Jeff Bourne).
The first entries for the Stamford IBC Christmas Open Fours tournament on Thursday, December 28, have been received but it still needs at least 20 entries to make it viable.
Players pay £5 each to participate in teams for four in a competition which guarantees four sessions of six ends with points for matches and ends won to decide the distribution of cash prizes. Entries close December 15, forms available from reception.
Stamford IBC club competitions are approaching closure with opportunities to play singles, pairs, triples and fours in various formats including novices. Forms available on the reception desk, £1 per player per event.
Ketton Bowls Club is hosting a fundraising Christmas bring and buy and book stall at Ketton Community Centre on Saturday (November 18) from 10-12. Gifts, books and raffle prizes appreciated.
