Peterborough City Council turns down Gladman Developments 250-home plan for Glinton

A bid to build hundreds of new homes on the edge of a village have been turned down by council planners.

Peterborough City Council planning officers refused the application by Cheshire-based Gladman Developments for outline permission to build 250 homes on fields south of Peakirk Road, at Glinton.

The proposals did not “fall into any of the categories for development allowed in the open countryside” by the local development plan.

Land around Glinton has been the subject of several planning applications in recent years.

In January, Larkfleet Homes was refused outline planning permission for up to 95 homes on a 7.3-hectare site off Lincoln Road, the developers’ fourth attempt to build there.

And in March, Hereward Homes lodged an application for 24 homes on agricultural land next to Peakirk Road in Glinton after a previous plan by the Rutland-based developer was refused.
