JJMac to host Bourne Christmas Tractor Run fundraiser for Peterborough City Hospital’s children’s ward

The roads and lanes will be lit up by a portable Christmas display as specially decorated tractors embark on a festive run next month.

The popularity of July’s inaugural Bourne Tractor Run has prompted father and daughter Tim and Lisa Sleight to add a second event into this year’s calendar.

The run will take place on Sunday, December 15, with the festively lit and decorated farm machines setting off from JJMac’s Spalding Road HQ shortly before dusk.

The event will raise funds to buy presents for children who will be spending Christmas on the Amazon ward at Peterborough City Hospital.

“We are back to give our community a Christmas they will never forget,” said Lisa.

“The first one took off so we couldn't leave it there.

“Our feedback was that the community wanted to see another one next year, but we thought, why wait until next year?”

The convoy will head into Bourne, via Abbey Road, and then along the A15 up to Morton where it will take a left at the crossroads to Hanthorpe.

From Hanthorpe it will turn towards Edenham, past the primary school and turning in to Main Street when it will then head for home, past Bourne Wood, on to West Street and through the town via Abbey Road back to JJMac.

Signing in opens from 1pm at JJMac, where refreshments will be served, with the tractors due to take to the local roads at 3pm.

Organisers are also inviting businesses and individuals to bring and decorate a tree to display at the site.

They are asking for a cash donation of £10 per tree, payable on the day, and for trees to be set up between noon and 1pm before visitors arrive.
