Bourne Old Town Hall holds pop-up events while work continues on new venue

Pop-up events will take place while work is carried out to create a new venue in the heart of a town.

The trust that runs Bourne Old Town Hall recently received £3.3 million from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to turn the former upstairs courthouse into an event hall, as well as recreating a clocktower that was destroyed by fire nearly 100 years ago.

With funding in place the building has closed, including The Shambles bar on the ground floor, while it is emptied ready for construction work to begin.

The volunteer team that runs Bourne Old Town Hall has already organised more than 100 events held in The Shambles to help raise funds towards the rest of the work, and will continue to do so at other locations until their own venue is completed.

The first ‘pop-up’ event is called You Cannot Be Serious!, Tales of a Wimbledon Umpire 1988-2012, a talk by Alan Gray MBE.

It will take place at the Red Hall, South Street, Bourne at 7.30pm on Friday, June 13 with tickets priced £12.50 available from www.bournetownhall.org.uk

Further events can also be found on the website.
