This opener in the long awaited spin-off of The Mandalorian TV series tantalisingly sets up future episodes – with a commendable first part.

The methodical opening only provides a taste of what could follow, but it answers the long-gestated Star Wars fanboy question of how the most famous bounty hunter in the galaxy escaped the Sarlacc Pit monster that seemingly devoured him in The Return of the Jedi.

Stranger in a Strange Land combines flashbacks to his time prior to his The Mandalorian cameo – alongside Ming-Na Wen’s elite mercenary and right-hand woman Fennec Shand – and where his appearance left off, with him residing on the throne of the recently-deceased Jabba the Hut.

The episode darts between Fett’s capture by Tusken Raiders prior to these events, and him and Shand taking control of Jabba’s criminal empire on Tatooine – but sadly not everyone welcomes their arrival with open arms.
