Dogwood Productions to perform ‘Facing the Waves’ in Lincolnshire including Long Bennington, Alford, Nettleham and Woodhall Spa
A new play is coming to the county that celebrates lifeboat heroes.
Dogwood Productions is heading to Lincolnshire throughout October to perform Facing the Waves.
The show brings together Victorian hero, Henry Freeman and a young mum from the modern day.
Henry miraculously survived a lifeboat disaster in Whitby when all of the 12 other crew members perished, before leading some of the most extraordinary rescue attempts of the century.
Faith is his counterpart, from a family steeped in the same tradition, juggling family, career and crewing the lifeboat. Will it be going off to sea or chips for tea?
The show will be performed at:
• Alford Corn Exchange - Wednesday, October 9
• Long Bennington Village Hall - Friday, October 11
• Nettleham Village Hall - Saturday, October 12
• St Peter’s Hall in Woodhall Spa - Sunday, October 13
The cast includes Eliza Shea, who has performed opposite Matthew Broderick off Broadway. Henry will be played by Duncan Drury and will be joined by Shona Maule, Robbie Bellekom and Charlie Staunton.
Music will be composed by Alastair Collingwood, who has written for the West End and for TV favourites, French and Saunders.
