Picnic in The Park in Bourne will include food, entertainment and classic cars

A picnic, classic car display, live music and fairground rides will be among the attractions at a town’s summer gathering.

Picnic in the Park has been organised by Bourne Town Council to coincide with ‘The Homecoming’, an anniversary being marked by BRM (Bourne Racing Motors).

On Saturday, June 14 from 11am until 4pm, there will be a picnic in the park at The Wellhead in Bourne, as well as food stalls, face painting, a car boot sale located outside Bourne Corn Exchange, a car show behind The Red Hall Gardens, and attractions at Baldock’s Mill.

Delaine Buses’ museum will be open, with vintage buses on show and touring the streets, while ‘The Homecoming’ - a display of BRM cars - will mark the 75th anniversary of Bourne man Raymond Mays winning the Shelsley Walsh Speed Hill Climb in Worcestershire in June 1950. It was the final time that Mays, who had established British Formula 1 racing team BRM in the 1940s, won the 1,000-yard event, which has been taking place annually since the early days of the motorcar.
