Old Leake drug-driver took heroin, cocaine and methadone prior to crash on A52 at Wainfleet which left man ‘lucky to be alive’
A drug-driver has received a four-year ban from the roads following a crash which left a man ‘lucky to be alive’.
Tests showed Bradley Oates had used heroin, cocaine and methadone at some point prior to sampling.
He must also pay £500 victim compensation, a £200 fine, and an £80 victim surcharge.
The 37-year-old was sentenced at Boston Magistrates’ Court last Wednesday (April 17) for driving whilst unfit through drugs.
The head-on collision caused by Oates, who pleaded guilty to the offence, happened on the on the A52 at Wainfleet on July 2, 2023.
The scene was attended by Police, the East Midlands Ambulance Service and Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, with a man injured described as ‘lucky to be alive’.
Oates gave an address of Chapel Road, Old Leake.
The Officer in Charge of the case, PC Chris Hearn, said, “This was a serious case and the result in court reflects this with a substantial driving ban.
“I hope this is a warning to those that use drugs and then drive.”
