Flagrant flytipper dumps waste under anti-littering camera on A16 between Frampton and Wyberton

A flagrant flytipper has dumped bags of unsightly insulation in a layby - right under a CCTV camera.

A councillor has labelled the move a ’blatant disregard for our community and environment’.

About 15 bags of the insulation were spotted in a layby on the A16 between Frampton and Wyberton on yesterday (Monday) morning.

And to make the offence even more heinous, the perpetrator dumped the waste behind a camera on a site where a number of flytipping warning signs are posted.

“We are deeply concerned and disappointed by the recent fly-tipping incident on the A16 near Frampton,” Coun Callum Butler, portfolio holder for environmental at Boston Borough Council, said.

“It is disheartening to see such blatant disregard for our community and environment, especially in an area clearly marked with 'no fly-tipping' signage.

“This act undermines the efforts of those who work tirelessly to keep our borough clean and safe.”

BBC added that investigations regarding this incident - believed to have taken place over the weekend - are ongoing.

“The council takes flytipping very seriously and is committed to taking swift action to address this issue,” Coun Butler continued.

“Our teams are already working to remove the waste, and we urge anyone with information about the perpetrators to come forward.

“Flytipping is not only illegal but also detrimental to our environment and public health.

“We will continue to enhance our enforcement measures to prevent such incidents and hold offenders accountable.”

BBC and fellow South and East Lincolnshire Council Partnership members South Holland and East Lindsey work in collaboration with Kingdom LA Support in a bid to stamp out enviro-crime.

Kingdom operate foot patrols in towns and villages as well as installing overt cameras in fly-tipping hotspots in a bid to deter or catch culprits.

A recent freedom of information request discovered SHDC earned £7,041.50 via the scheme in fines in the first year of operation, 10% of the fines collected by Kingdom.

Anyone caught or convicted of fly-tipping could face a maximum penalty of £50,000 and/or imprisonment.

However, in most cases the authority will issue a fixed penalty notice of £1,000 for fly-tipping offences.

Refusal to pay could lead to a court appearance and a greater fine.
