Boston Charity Ball Association host Mad Hatters Charity ‘Boobie’ Ball which has raised funds to support ‘bags of hope’ scheme in a chemotherapy ward
Special ‘bags of hope’ are set to be introduced into a chemotherapy ward, after a charity ball raised more than £5,000.
Boston Charity Ball Association (BCBA), which was established in Spalding, hosted the Mad Hatters Charity ‘Boobie’ Ball at the Jakemans Stadium in Wyberton to raise awareness for breast cancer and charities in our area.
The event welcomed over 150 guests, who enjoyed a three course meal, entertainment from JR Magic, Stattoo Vintage Photo Booth, a grand prize draw and silent auction.
All of the money raised from the ball will be split between Lincolnshire based St Barnabas Hospice, the ‘Don’t Lose Hope’ charity in Bourne and The Ruth Strauss Foundation who support bereaved children and families.
The BCBA focuses on supporting individuals emotionally and mentally who have been through or are currently experiencing similar journeys.

Organiser and member of the group, Sarah Tresandern said: “It was a real success, we are really grateful for everyone who came and supported the cause.
“Some of the money raised will also be going towards making care packages, which we plan to call ‘bags of hope’, to give out to patients going through chemo.
“After having breast cancer myself, I wanted to make a difference by raising awareness, alongside fundraising to support others going through similar situations.
“I had my chemotherapy at Pilgrim Hospital in Boston and I applied through a national charity to receive a care package however, I wanted it to be something patients receive on their first day and specific to Boston.
“My vision is that these care packages will give someone a bit of hope before they start their journey and to make them know that they are being thought of. We want to share the money locally and the important thing for us is that it goes into the community.
“We are also working with Maxwell charity to look at improving the decor of the chemo ward and suite – so it is more inviting for patients.”
Members of the group state that the bags of hope will include items such as fluffy socks, ginger tea, lip balm, puzzle books, pocket hugs and other well being items.
If you would like to donate items for the care packages visit the Boston Charity Ball Association. The group will also be holding another fundraiser on Saturday, January 13 2024.
