MP Richard Tice visits Boston Delivery Office to see how it tackles the festive season

An MP popped into a town’s delivery office during its busiest time of the year to see what workers are doing to tackle to festive rush.

Reform’s Richard Tice went to Boston’s Delivery Office — where around twice as many parcels and letters are sent through than usual.

Some ten temporary employees and six extra vehicles have been taken on to meet the increased demand for deliveries in the area over Christmas.

“Royal Mail is an iconic part of Christmas in the UK,” the Boston and Skegness MP said.

“It wouldn’t be the same without our posties.

“It was great to be back in a sorting office after all this time – one of my first jobs was in Northampton sorting office back in 1982.”

The MP spoke to lead customer operations manager Nick Hudson on Saturday, December 7 about how Royal Mail will continue to make sending and receiving parcels as convenient as possible over the festive period.

Mr Hudson said it’s down to adding choice - including services like Parcel Collect, where posties pick up parcels from customers at the doorstep, and offering more ways to drop off parcels at convenient times and locations.

“It was great to have Richard visit our delivery office, and to show him how we are gearing up for our peak period,” he added.

“We are pulling out all the stops to deliver Christmas for our customers.”
