Boston man who threw gas canister through window after drinking ‘three or four’ bottles of vodka has quit drink after following social media influencer Andrew Tate
A man who threw a gas canister through a window after drinking ‘three or four’ bottles of vodka says he has kicked the drink thanks to Andrew Tate.
Eimantas Matasevicius explained that he had been influenced to work on his fitness by the controversial tee-total kickboxer and social media personality, who has recently been released from house arrest while awaiting human trafficking charges in Romania.
District Judge Peter Veits questioned the defendant’s choice of role model when he appeared at Boston Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
“Andrew Tate? The man who has been in prison in Romania?” he asked. “He’s a misogynist.”
However, Matasevicius (21), remained unmoved, responding: Everyone thinks different.”
Prosecutor Turam Sunat told the court Matasevicius had caused £150-worth of damage when he threw the canister through the double-glazed window of a property belonging to Lincolnshire Housing Property at an undisclosed address in Boston last year.
“The defendant had agreed to pay for the damage, but failed to pay the money. That’s why he’s here today,” Mr Sunat added.
Defending himself, Matasevicius said he had drunk ‘three or four’ bottles of vodka prior to the incident.
When Judge Veits asked ‘how are you still alive?’ the defendant shrugged, before adding social media influencer Tate had inspired him to quit alcohol and work out instead.
Matasevicius, of South Terrace, Boston, pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage on December 21, 2022, adding: “I’m very sorry.”
The defendant – who told the court he had work at a potato factory lined up – was fined £250 and ordered to pay £150 in compensation.
He must also stump up a £100 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
