Boxing event Night of Prospects promoted by Carl Greaves to showcase up and coming talent from across Lincolnshire at Newark Showground
A boxing event will be showcasing some of the best up and coming talent from across Lincolnshire next month.
‘The night of prospects’ will happen on March 23 in The Lady Eastwood Centre at the Newark Showground and will be promoted by former champion Carl Greaves.
“All of my young up and coming kids are on the show,” said promoter Carl.
“Harvey Eldo, from Boston, is undefeated and is a very dedicated lad.
“Cruiserweight Tom Pogson, also from Boston, is looking to go four fights undefeated, he was previously on the team GB squad.

“James Richardson from Scunthorpe will be looking to bounce back from his last fight where he was defeated and he will be seeking to put in a good performance.
“Jamie Behan, who is a good prospect from Lincoln, will be looking for his fourth successive victory.”
The event will be headlined by Tom Cowling, from Newark, who is undefeated in ten fights.
“I’ve always said that Tom Cowling has massive potential as a fighter,” said Carl.
“I feel that he can really do something big in this sport.
“The plan is to get him active again, get him some more rounds and then step him up.
“I hope to get him a television fight in the near future and have him fighting for some titles.
“We are looking at lining up a good opponent for Tom, we want him to be challenged in this bout and we want a kid that is going to come out and have a go because that will bring the best out of him.
“He is in a good place and is training beautifully.
“The event is called the night of prospects and, while Tom is a little bit past the prospect stage, he will be a fantastic headliner because his fights are entertaining.
“Connor Meanwell, from Newark, is also on the card, plus we have Paddy Walsh flying in from Ireland who will also be fighting on the night.
“Billy Scott is a very popular fighter from Clipstone and he is on the bill.
“He is a big prospect and was a very good amateur, he boxed in the European youth games.
“Billy is a very capable fighter.
“Ryan Williams, from Peterborough, is trained and managed by former WBC champion Junior Witter.
“It is nice to have him on the bill.
“Shaydon Walmsley, from Grimsby, will be looking for his third win on the trot and will also feature on the night of prospects card.”
Greaves said that he always liked holding shows in his home town and was still lining up some of the opponents for his fighters.
Tickets are available from fighters - including from Newark boxers Tom Cowling and Connor Meanwell.
“It will be a great night, it always is in Newark.
“Newark is where it all started for me as a promoter in 2007, it is great to host shows here.
“We started at the Cedric Ford Pavilion and have worked our way up to the larger Lady Eastwood facility.
“This is my 156th show, it is unbelievable that we have put that many shows on in less than 20 years.
“We are expecting a crowd of around 1200, if you want to buy tickets check out our social media or come and see us at the gym.
“This will be a great event that will showcase the best up and coming talent in the area.
“We will keep building them up and help them find their feet in the professional game.
“Cowling will be fighting for titles and it will be great to see him in action at home.”
