Popular Kirton pub wants to transform barn into lounge area
A popular village pub has applied to extend its premises.
Kirton’s Black Bull wants to transform a barn/storage block into a lounge area to ‘improve the dining facilities’ and offer a ‘more enjoyable experience’ for customers.
The plans also include new windows, doors, new bound gravel surfacing to the beer garden, a new fence and the erection of an entrance porch.
“Our client, Stonegate Pub Company, are planning some internal refurbishment to the premises,” the design and access statement prepared by Concept IDL Ltd says.
“As part of this it is intended to convert the existing barn/store area into a new lounge area, which will be thermally upgraded, provided with new structural openings, timber framed double glazed windows, a new half glazed exit door, new lighting and heating.

“Also as part of the planning application there will be a new brick built, flat roof entrance porch, with a timber framed glazed doors.
“Externally there will be a new 1100mm high timber picket fence... with new festoon lighting to the existing smoking shelter.”
Applicant Stonegate added that they hope the plans, if given the thumbs up by Boston Borough Council, can help the Black Bull maintain its place at the heart of the community, as well as attracting customers from further afield.
“The pub currently offers real ales, a large wine selection and an extensive food menu,” the statement continued.
“Our client is aiming to attract more customers to the pub by providing a desirable establishment and facilities for all.
“The aim is to improve the dining facilities by converting the existing barn/store area to the premises creating more covers.
“The aim is to create a friendly environment for the all local community and guests to enjoy, whilst remaining sympathetic to the listing of the building and the conservation area the pub lies within.”
“Our client believes that a pub is an important part of any community, as it offers a place for people to socialise and relax in an alternative environment to their home.
“The proposals within the application have been designed to offer an altogether safer and more enjoyable experience for all people visiting the pub, particularly people local to the area who will have a better facility to enjoy only a short distance away.”
