Shop evacuated and man arrested after ‘noxious substance’ sprayed in Old Leake store





A village store has been evacuated after a ‘noxious substance’ was sprayed in the premises

A 54-year-old man has since been arrested in conjunction with the incident, which happened just after noon this afternoon (August 30).

Police, an ambulance and a fire engine attended the scene at the Co-Op on Meadow Way, Old Leake, near Boston.

“It was reported that a noxious substance, believed to be pepper spray, had been left and subsequently sprayed in the store,” a Lincolnshire Police statement read.

“The store was evacuated.”

Eyewitnesses told LincsOnline a member of staff has been treated by the ambulance service and the store is temporarily closed.

“A 54-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and we continue to investigate the incident,” the police statement added.
