Boston woman who assaulted another female when she was at ‘rock bottom’ now ‘willing to make a difference’ to her life

A woman who assaulted another female in a shop when she was at ‘rock bottom’ has been praised for being ‘willing to make a difference’ to her life.

Paige Maxey, 34, appeared at Boston Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (March 12), where she admitted charges of assault by beating and being drunk and disorderly in public on January 20.

Prosecutor Lottie Tyler said police received reports of a fight outside the Morrisons store in Boston.

“They believed the female was intoxicated due to her behaviour,” she added.

“A male and the female female started to walk towards Red Lion Street.

“The defendant’s behaviour was erratic and she was swearing, causing a public disturbance.”

Ms Tyler said police returned to the Morrison’s store where they spoke to the victim.

“She said the defendant had grabbed her collar at the front and dragged her downwards and scratched her neck, causing red scratch marks,” the court was told.

Defending Maxey, of West Street, Boston, Michele Cheatle said her client was homeless at the time of the offence and ‘very embarrassed’ by her behaviour.

“She’s very upset about being in court, she said.

“At the time things were rock bottom for her.”

Maxey a community order in place until September 25 this year due to a previous offence and a probation officer told the court she was ‘engaging well’ with the order.

Maxey herself told magistrates she ‘got on’ with her probation officer, was ‘willing to take all the support I can get’ and was happy to take on more rehabilitation days.

Magistrates told the defendant it was ‘reassuring’ she was ‘willing to make a difference’.

Maxey was handed a six month drug treatment requirement, including 10 rehabilitation days, to run alongside her current order.

She was also ordered to pay her victim £50 in compensation.
