Kirkstone House School in Baston applies for planning permission to use bungalows for teaching
Two disused bungalows could be taken over to provide additional teaching space for a neighbouring school.
The properties at 22 and 24 in School Lane, Baston have stood empty for 10 years.
Plans have now been drawn up for the properties to be used by Kirkstone House School for offices and small group sessions.
Staff could also use the buildings to teach life-skills such as cooking, cleaning and washing with the possibility of overnight and weekend stays.
The school has applied for permission from South Kesteven District Council to change the use of the buildings from residential to educational use, but Baston Parish Council is concerned about the loss of housing.
In a statement to the district council it said: “Bungalows are in short supply in the general housing market even though there is high demand for this style of property, especially for elderly and disabled residents.
“In the proposed Lincolnshire plan Baston has been proposed for a potential build of 83 new properties which, given the size of the village, will be a considerable percentage rise in houses.
“We would question why two perfectly good residential properties would be allowed to convert from residential use to educational use.”
The parish council suggested the school should use its existing buildings or seek permission to build within its grounds rather than use the bungalows on a residential street.
