Dad’s Army episode to be performed at Bourne Corn Exchange for VE Day by South Kesteven Acting and Musical Players
Don’t tell him Pike but a classic British comedy will be brought to the stage as part of commemorative events for VE day.
South Kesteven Acting and Musical Players will perform an episode of Dad’s Army along with songs and sketches from the Second World War era to mark the 80th anniversary.
Their chosen episode is The Deadly Attachment in which a German U-Boat captain is captured by the platoon.
It is the episode where Captain Mainwaring utters his iconic “Don’t tell him, Pike” line when a German officer is trying identify members of the platoon.
The production will also feature music from Dame Vera Lynn and The Andrews Sisters.
Director Tracy Hulme said: “As soon as you walk in the room you’ll be transported back to the 1940s with flags, bunting and a touching tribute to Lincolnshire’s contribution to the Second World War. This promises to be a wonderful community production and we’re hoping lots of people will join us.”
Performances of Dad’s Army and Wartime Revue take place at Bourne Corn Exchange from Wednesday, April 30 until Saturday, May 3 at 7.30pm. There will also be a special gala performance on Saturday, May 3 at 2.30pm which will include a cream tea and souvenir commemorative programme with stories and photographs celebrating Lincolnshire’s contribution to the Second World War.
Tickets cost £12 from www.ticketsource.co.uk/skamp or in person at Bourne Bookshop (cash only).
