Bourne United Charities offers free cookery lessons

A tasty offer of free cookery lessons is on the table from Bourne United Charities.

Each week for four weeks participants will learn to cook three meals for a family of four – and get to take them home.

The sessions are open to anyone resident in the parish of Bourne and are aimed at all members of the community. Those taking part will learn practical cooking skills, healthy recipes, and tips for making affordable meals - all in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

Nick Legge, trust manager at Bourne United Charities, said: “We believe that everyone should have access to the skills and confidence to cook nourishing meals. Being able to cook is not just about healthy eating, it’s also a lot cheaper than buying pre-prepared food.”

The initiative comes at a time when many households are feeling the pressure of rising food costs and are seeking new ways to cut their bills and prepare nutritious meals on a budget. The programme will run for an initial four weeks and the £1,800 cost is being fully funded by Bourne United Charities. It’s hoped that, if successful, it could run again.

The weekly sessions will be on Tuesdays at The Red Hall in South Street, Bourne, from 12.30pm to 2.30pm. The first is being held on July 1.

There are 10 spaces available. For more information or to book a place, email admin@bourneunitedcharities.co.uk or pop into the Red Hall for an application form.
