Bourne Garden Club hosts autumn show

Bakers, gardeners and crafters showcased their talents at an autumn show.

Bourne Abbey Church Hall was awash with colour on Saturday afternoon for Bourne Garden Club’s annual event.

Thirty-three people entered the show with 250 exhibits on display across the six categories.

Show secretary Marion Durrands said: “We were absolutely thrilled with this year’s show. The sections were all well-supported and our gardeners had come up trumps despite some difficult growing conditions this year.

“We had a lovely, sociable afternoon which everyone enjoyed.”

The entries were judged by Joe Whitehead, the head gardener at Burghley House near Stamford, Susan Wheeler from the Thurlby Art Group and Rachel from Bourne 2 Bake.

The overall section winners were Judy Measures (flowers and from the greenhouse), Eric Kendrick (pot plants), Mick Twaite (vegetables), Sarah Harris (baking) and Ros Bennett (arts and crafts). Mick Twaite also won the award for the most points in show followed by runners up Karen Foster and Susan Redshaw.
