Bourne Outdoor Pool to host volunteer morning ahead of new season
An army of helpers is needed to prepare an outdoor pool for the new season.
The first volunteer session at Bourne Outdoor Pool is taking place this weekend.
People are needed to help with weeding, picking up fallen branches and cleaning the poolside and changing room areas.
The facility relies on volunteers to keep it running.
Chairperson Mandy Delaine-Smith said: “Unless we get the help, we won’t open this year. We can’t do the work on our own so we would really appreciate any support.
“We would love to see our returning volunteers and hopefully some new faces.”
Helpers just need to turn up at the Coggles Causeway entrance to Bourne Outdoor Pool on Saturday (March 1) at 9.30am. Equipment is provided but people are welcome to bring their own gardening tools.
Future volunteer sessions will be advertised via the Bourne Outdoor Pool page on Facebook.
The outdoor pool usually opens between the end of May and September. It is one of the largest surviving outdoor pools in the country and has been operated and maintained by volunteers since 1990.
