Housing plan drawn up for land between Abbey Road and Manning Road in Bourne
An abandoned garage plot which is deemed an eyesore could become a small housing development.
The site between Abbey Road and Manning Road in Bourne has stood empty for years following the closure of Allen and Smith mechanics.
Two years ago the landowner was contacted by officers at South Kesteven District Council who were concerned that the site was “a detriment to the locality”.
A planning application has since been drawn up to build two semi-detached properties and a flat on the site, and to refurbish the existing house which faces Abbey Road.
The planning application (reference number S24/1704) says: “The site is very scruffy and particularly unsightly and is to the detriment of Abbey Lawns and the flats on Manning Road. The site can be seen from two very prominent aspects by the public and is in desperate need of improvement.”
The homes would be accessed from Manning Road with 11 parking spaces included.
