The time has come for Bourne town centre to be full of colour and fun as this year’s Bourne Summer Carnival returns this weekend.

Following the success of last year’s event organised by the team at Bourne Community Events, this year is set to be bigger and better than before with lots of entertainment planned for all the family to enjoy.

Organiser, Claire Saberton from Bourne Community Events said: “We’re expecting lots of people at this year’s event. We had such a good time last year and hope this year will be even better.”

Taking place on Sunday from 11am to 7pm, events will include street entertainment, craft, charity, gift and trade stalls, fairground rides, face painting and hair styling, hog roast and barbecue and the chance for children to meet Cinderella, Peppa Pig and other children’s characters.

There will also be live music throughout the day on the main stage, with a fantastic line-up of local bands including The A’s, The Blues Brother - Ed Ward, Westfield School Band, Colour of the Day, Will Ward, Ellen Bishell, LDC, Will Silver and Mullered at the Mill.

For children there will be a chance to win a prize in the carnival’s fancy dress competition which is based on the theme of princesses and pirates. There will be two categories - under five’s and five to 11 year olds. Those interested in entering the competition should meet at Bourne Bus Station at 11.30am on Sunday.

The competition is being organised by Busy Bee Pre-School and Day Nursery with prizes being donated by Sweet Sensations in Crown Walk. Contact Laura for more details on contact@busybeesbourne.co.uk

On the day there will also be a treasure hunt organised by the Bourne Business Chamber, with the chance to win £150 in gift vouchers.

Along with the chance to win Donington Park race meeting tickets, as well as Donington Park Grand Prix Collection tickets with The Derby HQ Racing Club, who will be running a 10-lane Scalextric track in the Corn Exchange in Abbey Road.

Paul Ross from Bourne Business Chamber said: “This is a very popular event for Bourne and a lot of effort goes into making it such a great day.

“Bourne Business Chamber are proud to support both the carnival and Bourne Community Events.”
