23 Coffee opens in Crown Walk, Bourne
Travels across the globe inspired a couple to open an ‘independent and trendy’ coffee shop.
Keen to fill a gap in the market, Megan and Tyler Kearney opened 23 Coffee in Bourne on Tuesday last week.
Megan, a mortgage broker, said: “The response has been phenomenal.
“Already people have said it is the best coffee in Bourne and how needed the coffee shop is.
“Stamford has a number of independent and trendy coffee shops but Bourne doesn’t so it is what has been missing.”
One of the biggest influences for Megan, 38, and Tyler, 32, was the coffee culture they experienced in Australia when visiting family.
This opened their eyes to the possibilities within the coffee industry, but with two young children and both working full time they didn’t think it was possible.
In 2023 Tyler quit his job and the family travelled for 10 weeks around South-East Asia, where they visited many roasteries and coffee shops, which was the final push they needed to set up their own business.
It began with a mobile coffee van which Tyler, whose lucky number is 23, would drive around the local area, before the couple secured the space in Crown Walk.
The van is now used for events.
“I would encourage people to read the reviews, come and try for themselves, and support local businesses,” said Megan.
“Starting up is hugely daunting but the feedback so far has been incredible.”
As well as hot drinks, 23 Coffee offers a host of sweets treats with popular choices including millionaire’s shortbread and smashed croissants covered in chocolate.
23 Coffee is open mornings and lunchtimes from Monday to Saturday.
Kew Gardens coffee shop, also in Crown Walk, has recently closed.
